What's New in Keytime Accountants' Suite Spring 2019 Release

Making Tax Digital for VAT comes into effect from April 2019, meaning all businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold must keep their accounting records (for VAT purposes) digitally and submit their VAT returns to HMRC via functionally compatible software.

To enable you to comply with these requirements, Keytime offers a range of solutions; our KashFlow bookkeeping system, complemented by Snap assists in the speedy capture and processing of receipts. Our VAT bridging software, built into Keytime Practice Manager, imports summarised VAT figures via a digital link. Read on for further details.

VAT Filer

Keytime VAT Filer is what HMRC refer to as ‘bridging software’, it's fully integrated into Keytime Practice Manager, meaning it works with your existing client records.

VAT Filer is not a replacement to bookkeeping software; it is intended to complement the use of spreadsheets by allowing for the import of VAT values from either a CSV file or clipboard. It then submits returns to HMRC via their new MTD APIs.

Keytime Personal Tax

Included in this Spring release:

Capital Allowances

The AIA limit has been increased to £1,000,000 for a period of 2 years

Welsh Rate of Income Tax

From 6th April 2019, the Welsh Assembly will be able to vary the rates of income tax payable by Welsh taxpayers. For the 2019/20 tax year, the Welsh Government has set the Welsh rates at the same level as in England and Northern Ireland. HMRC will continue to collect income tax for all parts of the UK.

The option to flag a client as a Welsh tax payer has been added to Client Details within Personal Tax.

Disguised Remuneration

From April 2019, a loan charge is applicable on all outstanding loans HMRC class as 'disguised remuneration'. The tax return and computation has been updated to support the reporting and calculation of this charge.

Keytime Company Secretarial - in Preparation for No Deal Brexit

In preparation for the possibility of the UK exiting the European Union without a deal, Companies House have supplied all software developers with several revised forms and advised of schema changes to support their online submission.

Users of Keytime Company Secretarial software are not affected by all the form changes, and there are limited circumstances in which they apply. As a precaution, however, we have implemented these changes, which will be triggered automatically should it be necessary. We will issue further updates on this situation as things become clearer in the coming weeks.
